Think Like Heaven
By Shaleen Dodson
Do you see yourself as being an anxious person? Do you become stressed easily? You know...I have never seen myself as an anxious person. The big things in life don't usually stress me out. Somehow, I was born with an ability to not think or worry about them often. It is actually the everyday anxieties that I allow to rule me at times.
Maybe, you can relate. It happens often, for example, the only time you hit traffic is when your in a hurry to get somewhere. It's when I take my 2 small kids to run errands or shopping. It's those kind of smaller things I allow to stress me out. I often get so caught up in everyday anxieties that I put the responsibility of bringing heaven to earth on the back burner, because I am walking around with an anxious mind.
It's often easy to make excuses for praying for people, or ministering to people daily because maybe you aren't having the greatest day. Maybe, you aren't filled with a lot of joy or peace, and so you think...how can I bring peace and joy to the people around me when I don't even have it myself today?
Philippians 4:6-7 says "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Don't we all desire for the peace of God to guard our hearts and minds?
Right after that in verse 8 it tells us that we should be thinking/meditating on what is, true, noble, right, pure, and lovely. Then it says in verse 9 "The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you."
You want to know what Jesus was always doing? He was always about His Father's business by bringing heaven to earth around Him everywhere he went. In this scripture, I believe Paul is trying to tell us to be like him and our Lord Jesus Christ, we must begin to THINK like heaven, be about our Father's business and the Peace of God will be with us and upon us! Don't let the distractions of today keep your from walking in His peace and power!
Lord, let your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. We ask that your peace guard our hearts and minds today as we go about your business. Amen.
